How Long Does It Take to Get Over an Ex

How long does it take to get over an ex

The time it will take you to get over your lost love will entirely depend on you. It is the same when it comes to pretty much anything in life. Sometimes it’s almost immediate if you have found a replacement, but otherwise you might have to wait from 8 months to 1 year. The time for you to learn a new language for example, will depend on the amount of effort you put in it. The time it takes you to lose the desired weight will depend on the tools you choose and your persistence and patience. I can go on and on with the examples, but I think you get the point that you have the influence when it comes to how long does it take to get over an ex. You can move on by ripping off the “break up” band aid all together, and let the irritation air out. Or you can bury yourself under your covers, instead of taking care of yourself, and punish your body and soul by doing so. The longer you take to address your emotions rather than suppressing them, the further is your heart’s salvation. The first thing you have to do is get help. Turn for support to your social network and other people that matter to you. Re-connect with old friends and invest yourself into the family. Relationships do take a majority of one’s time, you can now finally use this time to do things you always wanted to , but never had time for. Take time for yourself. Project positively on the past relationships and remember things you’ve learned, not only things that hurt. Even when speaking of love, there is not only black and white, there is also gray. And this is the zone in which break ups are dealt with. Today you might say : “ Of course it’s all black, he dumped me! ”. But in reality he might have granted you a big favor, by letting you go which gave you the chance to finally meet that other half that was really meant for you. After all, the glass is half empty or half full.

I’ve read a very interesting book which explains in great detail about the psychological state of mind when you’re going through a break up, it’s called “It’s Called a Breakup Because It’s Broken: The Smart Girl’s Break-Up Buddy” I highly recommend it, it helped me understand myself better.

When it comes to infidelity it is especially hard to find the gray zone, because cheating hurts our pride. However, even in this scenario, consider that it might have been even harder, had you found out about infidelity too late. Remember, that your heart’s other half is out there and if you give yourself a chance you will be united. Sometimes we miss meaningful opportunities because we are entirely absorbed by our current relationship, that is how sometimes love passes you by. A heart break is a painful, but a very precious chance for you to finally meet your soul mate and the love of your life.

After all, God works in mysterious ways…

Have faith.
